Airport weather & calculation notes
Open the official observation, then enter its wind using a matching runway reference.
Headwind = wind speed × cos(wind direction − runway heading). Crosswind = wind speed × sin(wind direction − runway heading). Positive crosswind is from the right. Gust calculations assume the same direction as the sustained wind.
For variable winds, calculate relevant directions separately. This tool does not assess aircraft limits or replace current airport observations and aircraft operating information.
